This page is just a little bit of history on where Ichiban Garage came from, the creator behind the brand & other little details around our history!

Hello! My name’s Sarah, the CEO & creator of Ichiban Garage. I started this brand in 2022 thanks to my new found love of Japanese cars, when I first purchased one: my MX5 Mk1 California. I fell in love with them & as many people do - I got one for the pop ups. I can’t deny it!

When it came down to it though, I really did start learning more about different Japanese cars & wanted to make the MX5 my own somehow. Having grown up in a household watching Top Gear & Formula One, it’s no surprise I’ve ended up here really.

I’ve always been passionate about art & knew I wanted to do something different with my MX5 (which is currently still a work in progress & likely always will be). Originally I’d only started Ichiban because I wanted to create slap stickers using my own art!

Shortly before starting Ichiban as a brand, I had been struggling with my health & was officially diagnosed with IBS linked to anxiety. IBS unfortunately has no ‘cure’ which left me feeling quite lost. This had stopped me doing normal things for a long time & I was concerned about what I could accomplish in the future.

After the first year or so I realised my potential & where Ichiban could go; how I could turn my love of creating art & my new found passion for Japanese cars into something I’m able to share with others.

I had a lot going on in my life, but then I met two very important people that pushed me to create my first apparel products & take the leap into the first line of production. After this, we did our first ever car show - MERAKI 2024 at Shuttleworth House & it was a huge success. I met some people there that wanted to know more about Ichiban & were happy to support me in this journey! Ever since then, Ichiban has been continuously growing with every show we’ve attended & my struggle with anxiety has become easier to manage. There are still bad days & hardships, but I am in a much better place thanks to the continuous support from all of you. Without your support & love for the brand, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

The future of Ichiban Garage is something that is always changing & adapting, but this is all part of my plan for the brand!

What I do know is that I want to continue creating art & developing Ichiban Garage. Your generous support will give me that opportunity.
